Effective Global Teams
The work of international/global organizations is increasingly being carried out by culturally diverse teams of individuals from—and often located in—a number of different countries. Whether you manage or work on a global team, co-located or virtual, this program will help you understand and avoid the most common problems of multicultural teamwork.
Training topics include:
Cultural differences in business cultures and the work ethic.
Resolving conflicts between team members from different cultures.
Differences in communication style (verbal and nonverbal) and how to resolve them.
Differences in attitudes toward time, decision-making, and risk-taking.
How culture affects the manager/subordinate relationship.
Differences in common workplace norms and expectations.
The special concerns of virtual teams.
The workshop will explore cultural differences in the following areas:
Communication style (giving feedback, disagreeing, saying ‘no’, the meaning of ‘yes’)
Management styles
Attitudes toward risk-taking
Concepts of rank and status
Concept of the team and teamwork, team-building
Decision-making
Today’s session was incredibly helpful and demystified a lot of communication hiccups I’ve encountered with various global team members.
The instructor is so energetic; he has given us all real time examples which helped me to realize how I sometimes come across to people in other cultures.
Mr Storti was a very engaging, personable and informative speaker. He used class participation and personal experiences very effectively. I left the class with a great deal of knowledge and would definitely recommend it to anyone working internationally.
The seminar also presents strategies on how to leverage cultural diversity for competitive advantage. This seminar is based in part on Craig Storti’s book Understanding the World’s Cultures, the 20th anniversary edition of the classic Figuring Foreigners Out.
